Welcome to going places, a podcast hosted by me Natalie Byrne, aimed to give you clarity on your creativity because you my friend are going places.
In todays episode we are discussing collaboration, gatekeepers and rainbow glittery curtains with activists artists and huge inspirations of mine Bee Illustrates and Eliza Hatch.
Eliza hatch co-found of cheer up is a photography series which reclaims past experiences of sexual harassment, & Bee who is an illustrator, their colourful art celebrates queerness. Bee's aim is to make complex theory and difficult subjects accessible and palatable for the modern millennial and Gen-Z audience.
The two have teamed up to create Hysterical a London-based charity exhibition celebrating women and people of marginalised genders who bring together both art and activism in their work. The show aims to subvert the notion of being deemed “dramatic” or “attention-seeking” as well as reclaiming words that have historically been used to oppress people of marginalised genders.
I spoke to Eliza and Bee fresh of the completion of the event, as I wanted to ask them about creative collaboration, gatekeepers and lots more. Enjoy the episode!
